Cosmetic Change

Installing Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer has been added as an option at the end of the Google Earth install or upgrade. You'll only be asked once and only if IE is your default browser and you don't already have Toolbar installed.
IE以外のブラウザの選択は結局次回に持ち越しになったようだ。
最後のは Google Toolbar が Google Earth 内のブラウザに出てくるわけではなくて、ただインストールするだけのようだった。
ところで、geobloggers の Catt さんが、Google Maps のタイルを Google Earth 上にオーバーレイさせる NetworkLink を公開していた。

I powered up my Google Earth Fu today and threw this together. The ability for Google Earth to load in Google Map tiles over the top. I figured the as Google Maps loaded in Keyhole Satellite images, then it should jolly well work the other way round too...

これはおそらくカトリーナの被害状況の衛星写真を fetch してくる NetworkLink と同じ手法を使っているのだろう。
で、日本を見てみると、やっぱり・・・・
東京駅近辺
日本測地系・世界測地系の違いは全くお構い無しなので、思い切り丸の内のビル街が東京駅にかぶってしまっている。
・・・修正してもらえるようにお願いしてみよう。

とおもったら、作者の Catt さんから flickr のほうに「測地系のオフセット、修正しておくから」ともうコメントがついていた。さすが・・・

こちらで日本の測地系も考慮した Google Maps Overlay を提供していた。
