Google Earth に National Geographic Layer

自分も大好きな雑誌、National Geographicの専用レイヤーが Google Earth にできた。まずは秘境の宝庫、アフリカからだ。


Google Blog: The illuminated continent

Just start Google Earth, enable the National Geographic layers, and begin exploring.

Across Africa, you will see the familiar yellow National Geographic logo. Zoom in to see the title of each feature article or photograph. Click the icon and a pop-up balloon shows a photo and description along with links to the content. Follow those links to read the entire story right where it happened.

「東京ドーム98個分の広さ!!」って言われてもだな

Google Maps Mania より。Google Maps で面積を測る mashup。

Google Areometer - Measure areas using Google Maps!

マーカーで囲んでいけば、そこのエリアの面積を計算して平米やヘクタールなどいろいろな単位で表示してくれる。とっても便利。

ということで、以前からちょっと疑問に思ってた『「東京ドーム●●個分」って一体どんだけよ』を調べてみた。

建築面積 ／ 46,755�u
(普段、東京ドームの面積と言われているものです。)

　

と図を見てもどこが 46,755�uなのかわからんので、まず自分がイメージしている「東京ドームの大きさといったらこの部分」、つまり半透明の雨よけの屋根の部分も入れたドームの建物の部分で測ってみた。

ということで公式の数字の7割くらいしかないので、今度は通路になってるデッキの部分も入れて測ってみた。
